March is almost here and once again we turn our eyes to Wagin and the famous Woolorama. This amazing event, put on by so many volunteers, unfortunately experienced heartbreak last year, when the show was cancelled, and all the hard work and preparations went without reward. An icon on the calendar each year, many of us cannot remember the last time we missed the event. The cancellation left the year a little empty and we all missed the opportunity to catch up with so many familiar faces, experience all the wonderful exhibits and enjoy a few unhealthy treats.
We are thrilled that Woolorama is back in 2023 and, as proud, long-term supporters of this ag community event, the team at Milne look forward to seeing you all there and catching up on the happenings of the past year. Come and see us on Ram Rd!
Like Milne Feeds, Wagin Woolorama is steeped in a rich, local history. Woolorama was started on the back of Wagin’s strong wool industry. It grew from an idea of Wagin Agricultural Society member, Malcolm Edwards, who realised that the region needed a feature event to showcase its signature strength – the Merino sheep. Since then, it has become a popular agricultural event, showcasing the best Wagin and surrounds has to offer. This year, the event is celebrating its 50th anniversary (take 2!).
The event has always prided itself on excellence and innovation. It has become a ‘must attend’ for many farmers wanting to see recent innovations, the latest and best and, of course, everything to do with the sheep industry. The foresight and planning required to run such an event is no small undertaking, and reaching this goal is a fantastic achievement for the community. Special mention must go to all the volunteers who have made the show run so smoothly over the past 50 years. The smile and welcome one receives from the gate staff upon entry always makes this event that much better.
This year’s Woolorama president, Paul Powel, and the team of supporters and volunteers, have worked tirelessly to present a world-class event which attracts visitors from across Australia.
Wagin Woolorama is always the first major agriculture show to start the season and it is a show that caters for all. This year we will get to see sheepdog trials, art displays, shearing competitions, poultry and eggs, horse events, the Young Farmers Challenge, machinery, photography and, of course, the sheep and wool competitions. This show has all things agricultural and, for those who love sweets and rides, let’s not forget the delectable thrill of Side Show Ally!
Milne Feeds have been a major sponsor of Woolorama for decades. As a WA, family-owned company, our passion for excellence in the sheep industry and supporting the regional community goes hand-in-hand with the spirit of Wagin Woolorama. Milne is focused on supplying high quality, cutting-edge pellets for WA’s strong sheep and wool industries. This year Milne is again on board as a supporter and we thank the committee for the opportunity to be involved in sponsoring various judging categories.
Milne Feeds would like to congratulate all involved on their commitment, and ongoing passion, for both the industry and this wonderful event, that will now celebrate its 50thyear. Please call by exhibit 258 on Ram Rd and see the Milne team: Wayne Manoni, Paul Nenke and Jonathon Langan.
“Happy Birthday Wagin Woolorama” from all the team at Milne Feeds!
