Tiny by Name, Big by Heart

January 29, 2023

Leading WA auctioneer, Tiny Holly, was spotted out and about on the streets of Harvey on his Gopher, wearing his cowboy hat, in readiness for this year’s bull selling season. Harvey local, Dean Maughan, commented that Tiny must be the only gopher driver who wears a cowboy hat!  As Nutrien Ag’s Bull Sale Auctioneer, Mr Holly is preparing for a big couple of months.  He will be auctioning at 14 bull sales around the state, from Albany to Geraldton, in February, March and April.

Mr Holly is recovering from a serious health battle. He believes his problems began nearly a decade ago when his weight reached over 170kg and he was diagnosed with type two diabetes.  After losing both legs in the last two years, he has vowed to fight back! Mr Holly is a tireless advocate for mental health, which he can relate to from his own experiences, along with other much needed causes.  Over the years he has raised more than $33.5 million with auctions at some of WA’s most high-profile charity events.

Mr Holly’s passion for auctioneering carries over to the agriculture industry, particularly during bull sale time. Tiny’s enthusiasm for Ag is nothing short of inspirational.  His big personality, charisma, and industry knowledge have seen him become one of the most well-known and sought-after auctioneers in WA.  He clocks up hundreds of kilometres travelling to auctions and has knocked down many a record-breaking sale.  Beef prices continue to remain strong and this year’s bull sales are sure to generate plenty of interest.

After he completes his auctioneer duties in mid-April, Tiny will be fitted with a second new prosthetic limb and take on the challenge of learning to walk again. We wish him all the best for the bull sales, and for his recovery.
