Craig and Donna Tierney operate the Milne Feeds’ Moora depot, situated at 172 Ranfurly, St Moora. The Tierneys, long established in the area, took over the depot after assisting the Manning family to set up the original Moora depot some 12 years ago.
It was this initial association with Milne, plus running many truck loads north to the station country, that lead the Tierneys to take on the depot about 6 years ago. It has proved a natural fit for them, as Craig and Donna own and manage their own transport company (Tierney Transport). This ties in well for both picking up pellets from the Milne Feeds’ Welshpool mill, and being able to stock and deliver bulk loads within a radius of the Moora area.
Craig, along with drivers Trevor and Darryl, also transport a fair percentage of the station cattle from the Pilbara and Gascoyne regions. These cattle are trucked into feedlots both closer to Perth and also through to the Muchea cattle sales yards. This established trucking network is a great way for stations to get pellets at good freight rates into their areas.
Whilst the Moora Depot services areas close to Moora and surrounds, clients from as far as Three Springs, Morawa and Perenjori all utilise this great service. Generally, the Milne Feeds’ Moora depot will have stocks of both EasyOne® and Lambgro® pellets onsite, with provision to cart bulk loads direct to farms. Smaller bulka-bag lots can be arranged for clients, as part of their Welshpool pickup route.
Being well entrenched locals, Craig born in Milling and Donna in Gillingara, the Tierneys understand the local area, the local roads and tracks, and the general district challenges that arise over time. The experience with logistics enables them to offer great distribution to areas that may otherwise find pelleted feed supply inaccessible.
