Field Days and Ag Schools 2024

September 24, 2024

Milne Feeds recently attended a number of agricultural field days and Ag school events. It was encouraging to see the events were well attended. Our team were pleased to catch up with local farmers and hear how the season was shaping up in various areas.

The Milne Feeds team attended both the Dowerin Machinery Field Days and the Newdegate Field Days, alongside many of our valued customers. Our trade stand was in the Ram Shed at Dowerin and the main arena at Newdegate. We had a dedicated team present during these busy days, engaging in numerous customer conversations. Sales manager, Paul Nenke, lost his voice by the end of the events!

The field days' weather this year were polar opposites, from sunshine at Dowerin, to hail and freezing winds at Newdegate. Even so, there was a strong presence from sheep producers at both events, with growing confidence that the sheep industry is rebounding after a nasty bump last year.

The key product of interest with many of our customers was LambGro®. With lamb prices rising and the need to increase body condition quickly, LambGro® provides efficient feed conversion, excellent liveweight gains, and is great value against grain. Pricing trends shown in the September Farm Weekly Market Report indicate this season looks very promising when comparing last year's prices lamb prices to this year's.

Many of the farmers highlighted the essential role that Milne Feeds plays in their businesses, emphasising that quality is paramount. They described Milne Feeds as a trusted brand that meets the needs of both small and large-scale producers. It was a pleasure for the team to hear so many positive stories from farmers using their feeds. There was even an unexpected visitor at Newdegate when an escaped sheep stopped by the site to say hello!

The Milne team also visited both the Western Australian College of Agriculture Cunderdin, and Narrogin, school open days. These fantastic events showcase the schools’ impressive dedication to agriculture. The future of the industry looks bright, thanks to the incredible teachers who invest so much time into shaping it, and the talented students developing their skills. Milne Feeds is always proud to sponsor these Ag schools, especially at the Royal Show, where they consistently compete and perform well with their livestock.
