The season has proved challenging on many fronts. For sheep producers the lower ’23 harvest yield, extended summer, and dry autumn (and winter thus far), has led to what it is a very tight grain and fodder season. Paddock feed is limited, and hay/straw availability is an issue. Low feed on offer (FOO) could lend itself to a late run of suckers being behind in weight in July and August. Why is EasyOne® so easy? When putting ewes, lambs and weaners on to feed, acidosis is a major concern, as the young rumen develops and adapts to digesting grain-based feed. Milne Feeds recognised this challenge for livestock producers and developed our unique Hyfibe® technology, which allows our complete feeds to be fed without the need to supplement with additional hay or other fibre. Milne Feeds pellets, such as EasyOne®, contain a higher fibre content, along with grain-based energy sources. The Hyfibe® technology used to produce EasyOne® allows maximal feed intake and growth rates while minimising the risk of acidosis typically associated with high-producing grain-based rations. Hyfibe® technology makes the stored nutrients more readily available for lamb growth and modifies rumen acidity, ensuring lambs grow faster without the negative effects associated with eating traditional full-grain rations. When used in a feedlot, sheep can go on to full feed from day 1, meaning they can begin weight gain immediately, without the traditional adaptation period.
